Last June, I had the EXTREME (ALL CAPS doesn’t even do this adjective justice) pleasure of attending a KDHX in-studio for The Head and the Heart before the band’s Saint Louis debut at Blueberry Hill later that evening. There, Josiah Johnson, Jonathan Russell, and Charity Rose Thielen of the Seattle outfit performed three songs acoustically and just about knocked me out of my chair on the other side of the glass. Somehow, I managed to stay upright.
Not even a year later, The Head and the Heart came back to Saint Louis, this time playing The Pageant, a huge step up venue-wise from the intimate (but very lovely) Blueberry Hill’s Duck Room. Before the show, KDHX and Show Me Shows once again wrangled the trio of Johnson, Russell, and Thielen for a very special performance…this time on a rooftop.
Last week, we tweeted about the first released video, a new song called “Virginia.” Now, the second video has been released: it’s a cover of Damien Jurado’s gorgeous “Beacon Hill.”
Special thanks to KDHX, Show Me Shows, Jarred Gastreich, R&R Music Labs, and of course, The Head and the Heart for giving us the warm fuzzies on this Monday morning.
