If you remotely fancy yourself an indie rock fan, then you know that a new Spoon release makes for a triumphant day. Lead singer, Britt Daniel, has penned some of the most memorable tunes of the last decade, songs that continuously fill my iPod speakers despite their age. For example, “I Turn My Camera On” off Gimme Fiction will forever be the song I’d like played every time I walk down the street. It oozes cool, and I would like to be cool, even if just for a day.

The band is set to release its seventh studio album on January 19, 2010 on Merge Records. Titled Transference, it features 11 new tracks, including the surprise single “Got Nuffin” from the recent Got Nuffin EP. NPR is now streaming the album in its entirety up until release day, including the first single “Written in Reverse.” Furthermore, U.S. tour dates have been announced. Who’s excited?
