Lightning 100, Nashville’s indie radio station, hosted Dr. Dog and MeWithoutYou at The Ryman this past Friday night. MeWithoutYou started the night with an eclectic set of songs involving a large number of different instruments. Frontman Aaron Weiss showed off quite a bit his enthusiastic yet humble personality. The 5-piece experimental group plans to release their next album this summer.
Dr. Dog hit the stage and the Mother Church audience stood and immediately started dancing. Dr. Dog, in my opinion, is one of the most underrated rock bands of the 2000’s. Dr. Dog’s beautiful harmonies and Every aspect from frontman Toby Leaman’s classic voice, to Scott McMiken’s wicked guitar solos and all the harmonies created throughout the whole group make Dr. Dog the loveable band that they are. Dr. Dog is currently on tour supporting their most recent record, Live at a Flamingo Hotel. Dr. Dog has some special performances coming up this summer at Shaky Knees Music Festival, and in Scottsdale with Wilco and Madison Square Garden with Dispatch.
