I know that Jay Farrar teaming up with Ben Gibbard and Jack Kerouac for the One Fast Move Or I’m Gone album is all the rage these days. I get that. I do. But I’m going to throw you a Farrar curve ball on this wonderful Friday and go back to The Slaughter Rule soundtrack. Because the winter months always bring me back to this song.
There is something about Farrar’s voice that meditative. It’s longing for something that isn’t clear. “Gather” is a song that suits these feelings of loneliness and the need to be close. Close with friends. Close with family. Close with a lover.
Or simply just close.
