I never laughed so loud
I never laughed so loud
I never laughed so loud
Think I’m coming down
It saddens me when people confuse struggle with failure. When you struggle, you often lose, you don’t get what you want, and still, nothing can stop you. You only fail when you lose and give up. And giving up is a sad, lonely dead-end road where your heart is shared by no one but you.
Anaïs Mitchell’s “Coming Down” strikes me as an emotional song of struggle, one where we see the outcome in its final line. “Nothing gonna stop me now,” Mitchell sings.
You can find “Coming Down” on Mitchell’s 2012 release, Young Man In America. And for good measure, included below is Bon Iver’s version of “Coming Down,” which, of course, is equally chilling.
