The music community let out a collective sigh of despondency when Nick Zammuto announced that The Books were breaking up in 2012. The reality of never again having the chance to witness the glorious musical partnership of Paul de Jong and Nick Zammuto perform live was almost too much to bear, but thankfully Zammuto announced an eponymous solo project soon after The Book’s amicable split. Hope was still alive.
After 2012’s great self-titled debut, Nick is set to release his second solo album, Anchor, on September 2. “Great Equator” is the tastiest morsel of post-Books material that I’ve heard from Zammuto, and excitement for this new record is mounting.
Anchor is out 9/2 on Temporary Residence
