Texas based post-rock band This Will Destroy released one of my favorite albums of all time with 2011’s Tunnel Blanket, and when they premiered the first single from their next album, Another Language, on Stereogum earlier this week, I honestly squealed a little bit. The song is called “Dustism” and it preserves much of the droning ambiance of Tunnel Blanket, but also recalls the more electronically oriented sound of their self-titled debut LP.
Imagine climbing K2 and nearly turning back midway through and you get an idea of what the first 2/3 of the song is like. The final 1/3 represents the decision to finish the journey and summit the mountain despite common sense telling you to turn back. It’s seriously that intense.
Another Language is out 9/16/14 on Suicide Squeeze Records in the U.S. and Hobbledehoy Records in Australia and New Zealand
