i think i love you most in the summertime
i just might make it as long as you’re still mine
Since I spent most of the winter plying you with songs that made it not feel like winter – and here in the NC it finally feels not like winter for real – I figure we might as well kick spring off with a spring song. (You were waiting for me to say a winter song, right? Wrong.) Or, well, really a summer song, since “Most In The Summertime” has the summer right in the title. The first track off Rhett Miller’s upcoming fifth LP, “Most In The Summertime” is one of Miller’s great solo love songs in its lyrics and a new direction for his solo work in terms of music. Backed by Black Prairie for The Traveler, it’s a far more full sound than his recent solo albums — it’s flush with fiddle and keyboards and I think there’s an accordion in there, somewhere. It sounds like sunshine, which it just what it’s supposed to.
I think I love Rhett Miller most all the time, as is well documented here on SiC, but I’m happy to love this song most in the summertime and in the springtime, too.
