There’s been a lot of complaining this year about female artists not being represented at major music festivals, but in my opinion, that’s wasted energy. You’re never going to understand what factors go in to booking a huge festival, and I’m quite certain that the person writing the checks doesn’t really care about gender, race, pleasing everyone, etc, when filling out a lineup card. Is that right? Who am I to say. Someone is making a lot of money, and that seems to be the bottom line.
The only thing I know: some of my favorite artists are female. And Meg Myers is amazing. She’s one of the best live performers I’ve seen in years, and her new song, “Sorry,” cuts deep. It’s taken from a full-length album that will be released this summer. Tour dates can be found below.
