Seattle band the Maldives are poised to make a splash in 2013, and with good reason. Their sophomore LP, Muscle For The Wing, drops on October 16, and it’s a doozy — a blend of Americana, the lush grey-green atmosphere of the Northwest, and a little bit of Neil Young in his Crazy(er) Horse days, “Blood On The Highway” aches and shivers with lonely guitars and a lush orchestration underneath the opening guitar and mandolin riff. When the vocals come in, as chorused as the guitars, the song, well, takes wing and soars.
