Ahhhh, Jason Collett. We go way back.
He’s a member of Toronto’s Broken Social Scene, but Collett’s most notable work is his catalog of solo efforts. The acclaimed Idols of Exile is chock full of twangy, backyard sleepers and is perhaps one of my favorite albums of…well, ever. Here’s to Being Here features two of the catchiest songs of 2008, “Out of Time” and “Roll on Oblivion,” both optimistic reminders that we’re all ticking-tocking on borrowed minutes.
His next album, Rat A Tat Tat, will be released on March 9, 2010 on Arts & Crafts. It finds Collett honoring his Canadian roots with songs like “Lake Superior,” “Winnipeg Winds,” and “High Sumner.” I, for one, am sitting on the edge of my seat in anticipation.
In the meantime, check out the first single “Love is a Dirty Word.”
