There are some days when what I want from a song isn’t lyrics that make me think, or complex orchestration; I just want crashing guitars and something that sounds and feels like rock and roll at its most pure. “45,” the first single off the Gaslight Anthem’s upcoming record Handwritten (out July 28th), is that song for me today, an ode to being young and loving bad girls and fast cars and most of all, above everything else, the records that save you.
The Gaslight Anthem play the Cat’s Cradle next week, July 19th, with Dave Hause (they also play tonight in Saint Louis at The Firebird; that show is sold out). Check out the official video for “45” below.
