Hey, Friday JOTD, long time no see. But I’m back, recovered from moving into a house that was still being renovated while we were trying to live in it, with this track from Brooklyn rockers Dead Stars. It’s one of those songs that’s pretty straightforward at the outset, drums and lots of guitars, but for some reason it makes me think of all my favorite mid-90s college alt rock. It has that vibe to it, a vibe that reminds me of sitting on porches in small towns in Minnesota when I was in college, where it’s too hot to move and maybe you’re in love with the wrong person or the right person at the wrong time.
If I’d had “Someone Else” in those summers, I’d have listened to it on repeat. I probably will anyway.
