This unreleased b-side from Caveman’s self-titled album starts spare and gets bigger; it clanks and clatters and rumbles its way into a heavy organ line that cuts in counterpoint to the light and airy vocals. It’s heavy and weightless at the same time, lifting off from those crashes of organ and synthesizer into something both eerie and beautiful; my favorite kind of song.
Caveman are finishing up a run with Phosphorescent — you just had ’em, St Louis! — and will headline the new Back Room at the Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro on Monday, 2/10. Make sure I see you there, North Carolina.
