Brooklyn-based DIY duo Buke and Gase prepared for their new album by undertaking an extensive recording project called “Monday Missons,” where they posted a new tidbit of material every Monday as an attempt to suss out song ideas and learn new compositional techniques. These bite-sized nuggets of musical gold have been a fine appetizer, but we get our first taste of the main course on the band’s great new single “Seam Esteem.” Rhythmic and catchy as hell, “Seam Esteem” exemplifies just how much Buke and Gase have learned from their extensive demoing process; vocalist Arone Dyer employs her sweet falsetto more prominently than ever before, and there is a significantly larger emphasis on synthesizer on this track than anything we’ve heard from the band previously. There is not much info out about the new album thus far, but a short North American tour was recently announced, so let’s cross our fingers for a 2014 release.
