Kurt Cobain. A rock icon to many. Perhaps just a name to others who are now growing up.
But I grew up listening to Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young. Not in that order, but I remember buying In Utero and blasting “Heart-Shaped Box” in my basement while playing Contra or Tecmo Bowl. I remember screaming the lyrics with my childhood friend, Matt (whose nickname was “Eggs”).
We didn’t have any notifications. We didn’t have a smart TV or phone. We had music, and it was enough.
“I need an easy friend…”
Kurt’s been gone 22 years.
My friend, “Eggs,” is also gone.
Let’s crank it one more time.
