The first time I heard The Deep Vibration on my local, independent radio station, KDHX, I caught the song “Tennessee Rose” about halfway through. If I wasn’t completely obsessed with all things Ryan Adams, I would have bet a million, trillion dollars that it was a hidden track I’d previously missed off of Heartbreaker.
Harmonica? Check.
Melancholy? Check.
Lyrics of a displaced traveller? Check.
When I heard that the band was celebrating with Courtney Jaye at her album release party for The Exotic Sounds of Courtney Jaye, I was pretty bummed that a) I don’t live in Nashville and b) I don’t have a job that allows me to scream “ROADTRIP!” like the cool kids in the movies and just take off without a care in the world.
Thanks to the magic of YouTube, I have transported myself to Wednesday night’s show where The Deep Vibration showed off a new song called “You’ve Got Me.” The Veracruz EP is available now on iTunes, and you’ll also want to check out the band’s Daytrotter session.
