Several songs from the last A.A. Bondy effort (2009’s When the Devil’s Loose) frequently appear on mixes I make for friends, or myself, that whisper the slow coming of fall. “I Can See the Pines Are Dancing” is a leisurely jaunt over wooded hills and through dry, crunching leaves. The title track eerily conjures images of evil on the lam, perfect for Halloween (my favorite holiday, no doubt).
Two years later, we’ve got a new September A.A. Bondy release coming our way, and if the first track is any indication, the album will sound a little more urgent in its ushering in of autumn. Take a listen to “The Heart Is Willing.”
Believers is out September 13th on Fat Possum. Also, please do me a favor and read these four anecdotes from a few people with whom “Bondy has crossed paths” over time.
