Somewhere inside where it all lives and dies I know
There lies a heart unbroke in the dark where love still grows
So follow the roads that make you feel old and brand new
If you remain kind yet aware of the signs then you’ll know what to do
Ryan Bingham headlined the final day of the 2015 Open Highway Music Festival at Off Broadway — a windy, stormy evening that lit up the sky. The venue was at capacity, and Bingham was alone on stage — just a stool and acoustic guitars.
The result was brilliance. He played “Sunrise,” “Hallelujah,” and other favorites. But the moment for me was “Broken Heart Tattoos,” a song that is essentially lyrics to his (then) unborn child.
