Day Two of Lollapalooza delivered as promised with engaging sets by The National, Local Natives, Charles Bradley, Haim, and Blondfire, to just name a few.
The National’s Matt Berninger let out a wail during “Squalor Victoria” that was manic and suggested he was in the wild hunting for a meal. The man looked possessed.
Meanwhile, before The National’s set, Local Natvies captured everyone’s attention during “Airplanes,” prompting thousands to sing “I want you back, back, back, back.” A perfect afternoon set in the sun.
Rounding out the day were Blondfire, who found their stride during “Waves” before beautifully covering Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams,” and Haim, who is absolutely deserving of mega-hype: they thrilled a packed Grove stage with songs like “Forever” and “Falling.” They also chose to cover Fleetwood Mac, reaching back in the catalog for a intense version of “Oh Well.”
