April is the month of self-reflection for me. Screw December and it’s focus on the year gone by, right along with January and it’s lame-ass resolutions. Calendrically, years mean nothing without life-events anchoring real thought and a baseline for change.
Kurt Vile has always made his way to my turntable, as the artist-o-the-month during April, partially because he soundtracked a major series of horrible events for me. “Walkin On a Pretty Day” reverses that overcast mood previously conjured by his music, even though it’s immediately recognizable sonically as “Vilesque.”
It’s been a great year, and will continue to be if I have anything to say about it. Let’s walk, shall we?
