The 20 Best Sad Bastard Songs of 2012

That, my friends, must be the saddest album cover of 2012. And Glen Hansard: I love you, man, but you’re a sad bastard.

And so am I.

But let me clarify: sad music makes me happy. I have heard your calls to not listen to sad music when I am down. But I ask you this: then when is the time for it?

So, I’ve decided to embrace it and accept it in my life, once and for all. And this, my friends, is the first annual Sad Bastard List of 2012. Eighteen tracks on Spotify. Two tracks I could not find on Spotify (we’ll call them the “Obscure Sad Bastards.”) Click here to play the list in Spotify.

**Note** These are not ranked, and only songs NOT included on our “Best Songs of 2012” list, which will be posted later this week.

Congrats to all. (And, no, I don’t really expect anyone to actually listen to this but me.)
