Nanna Øland Fabricius. That’s her real name, but she goes by Oh Land, and I’ll be honest: I’m a little smitten. Have been for months now, I just haven’t written about her. I love pop music when it’s done right, and Oh Land does just about everything right in my book. She even kicks major ass at making videos — I present to you, Exhibit A:
And with that, I rest my case.
The Scandinavian singer’s self-titled album produced the above “White Nights” and “Sun of a Gun,” another favorite of mine. It’s infiltrated my vast collection of sad songs that is my iPod (yes, there are a few lights in the land of darkness!), and has taken up a permanent residence. The front door keeps sticking, but we’ll address that later. Right now, I just want to listen to Oh Land and her playlist that she’s created for Speakers in Code. Her theme is “covers,” and we’re stoked to have her take part.
I have picked some covers of songs that I love, covered by artists I love! It’s double love and a bit like picking your favorite mom and favorite dad and make them have a love child. Here it goes, enjoy. –Oh Land
